Union Home Minister Amit Shah pounded the opposition parties ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, saying those dreaming of forming a government in Uttar Pradesh should first hear the sound of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' while calling upon the gathering to rend the air with slogans (Bharat Mata Ki Jai).
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences in Sarojini Nagar area of the state capital on Sunday, Shah praised the Yogi Adityanath government for having performed excellently, saying UP was ahead of all other states due to the state government’s dedication to carry benefits of the welfare schemes to the poorest in the state.
"Bharatiya Janata Party governments do not run on the basis of castes and families and not even for people close to them,” he said while slamming the dynasty politics of the opposition leaders who, he said, were coming out of their castles only during elections.
Shah said UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had done an excellent job and his effort in controlling crime and criminals was impressive.
"I have made extensive visits to UP in the past and remember correctly the UP of earlier times when women were insecure, bullets were fired in broad daylight and there was a rule of mafia. But at present, in 2021, while I am standing in UP, I can proudly say that Yogi Adityanath did the work of taking the state forward. There is a fear of Yogi’s government in the heart of the corrupt people due to which corruption has reduced, hence today UP is at the forefront of the country in vaccination and other achievements," he said.
Shah said the BJP worked for the development of the country."We had said that governance will be for all, not for one caste,” he added.
The Union home minister invoked Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary and said the freedom fighter was the first who had said that “freedom is my birthright” and that slogan shook the foundation of the mighty British rule.
“I pay my humble tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary. By following the path shown by him, the future generations should raise the value of the country,” he said while making an appeal to the youths. Shah said that UP was leading other states in 44 developmental schemes while it was ahead of others in law and order.
He said the Rs 200 crore forensic sciences institute project being set up in Lucknow would pave the way for setting up other forensic institutes in UP and other states. Yogi Adityanath’s praise by Shah after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh left no space for opposition to drive their wedge of criticism.
Shah hit out at the opposition, accusing them of remaining in their castles when there was flood, people were struggling for their daily needs and the middlemen were eating into the benefits of different government welfare schemes for their uplift. He said that UP’s economy had doubled from Rs 11 lakh crore to Rs 22 lakh crore in the last four-and-a-half years to become the second largest economy in the country.
Elaborating on the need for the forensic set-up, he said there was a low conviction rate in the country and the Central government was taking initiatives to support the state government in maintaining proper law and order situation. “The students to be trained in forensic manpower will help not only UP but other states in improving the performance in conviction rate of criminals,” he said.
Shah said police were criticised either for no action or extreme action and said the police should resort to “just action” to improve their image.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his brief welcome address claimed that before 2017, UP was considered a state of riots that was occupied by mafia. “But the change that has happened in UP within 4 years is due to the Union home minister's active role, which is not hidden from anyone,” he added.
He said UP Police were now seen working effectively and had seized properties worth Rs 1,584 crore of mafia and gangsters in the state. “Today there is an atmosphere of fear in the mafia while women and citizens are safe,” he claimed.
UP Institute of Forensic Sciences will be like a university with different courses and research facilities. It will come up in a 50-acre area in Piparsand village of Sarojini Nagar tehsil in the state capital.
Earlier, the UP government had proposed to set up UP Police and Forensic Science University but after suggestion from the Centre it will be an institute affiliated to the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar. The Institute will also have a seat of centre of excellence and it will pave the way for research in DNA testing in the state.
