In an attempt to placate the Shiksha Mitras, who are waging a war for their rights, the Yogi Government has decided to increase their honorarium from the existing Rs 3500 per month to Rs 10,000 per month.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet here on Tuesday.
Power Minister and Government spokesman Shrikant Sharma said that the monthly honorarium of Shiksha Mitras have been raised to Rs 10,000. This will come into effect from August 1, 2017, he said.
The Shiksha Mitras are now getting Rs 3500 per month. The new decision is likely to benefit 1,65,517 teachers.
Shiksha Mitras were on war path after their appointment on the post of Assistant Teacher was annulled by Supreme Court. These teachers staged protests across the state demanding restoration of their posts. They called off their agitation after a delegation of Shiksha Mitra held a meeting with CM Yogi Adityanath. The CM had assured that Government will bring a bill in State legislature to bring parity as well as assured them that they will get their salary as honorarium.
The cabinet has approved what promises CM has committed to the delegation of Shiksha Mitra, Sharma said and added that the government has full sympathy with these teachers and will do its best to redress their grievances.
