Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a bailout package of Rs 8500 crore for the sugar industry besides approved construction of 6-lane bridge over river Ganga in Allahabad.
The decision was taken in the union cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
“The economy of Uttar Pradesh is based on agriculture. The bail out package announced by the Union Government will strengthen the sugar industry of the state as well as help the state government to clear the cane dues. This will strengthen agrarian economy of the state,” Yogi said in a written statement issued here.
Sugarcane has suddenly hogged the limelight after BJP suffered electoral defeats in the sugarcane belt of Kairana and Noorpur. Experts say that cane farmers did not vote for BJP because they were angry with the non-payment of cane dues.
Yogi has also congratulated PM for approving construction of a six-lane bridge over river Ganga in Fafamau in Allahabad. This bridge will promote Allahabad by making commutation feasible for pilgrims during Kumbh melas or other religious functions.
The said bridge will be 9.9 km long and will be constructed at the cost of Rs 1948.25 crore. The Union Cabinet sub-committee of financial affairs has already given its approval. The construction of the bridge will be completed by December 2021.
