After controlling the second corona wave and ramping up healthcare facilities, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to make all necessary preparations for controlling floods in catchment areas which are prone to inundation. Aiming to reduce the impact of floods, especially in vulnerable districts, preemptive measures have been taken by the Yogi government, which include better management of dams.

Addressing a high-level meeting in Lucknow on Saturday, the chief minister said, “Permissible assistance should be provided to the people affected by the disaster within 24 hours. District Magistrates and police chiefs should visit sensitive districts and make necessary arrangements for distribution  of relief material and dry ration in these districts. The quality of packets containing dry ration should be good.”

Besides, the CM tasked Nigrani Samitis with starting an extensive campaign of door-to-door screening to identify children with symptoms like fever, cough in rural areas and provide them with medicine kits from June 26. The children have been divided into four groups - 0-1 years, 1-5 years, 5-12-years and those aged between 12 and 18 years.

With the monsoons lashing the state, the Yogi government has asked officials to ensure regular sanitation and fogging to curb the threat of seasonal and vector-borne diseases including Dengue, Chikungunya, Malaria, Encephalitis. These drives will be run by Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats.

Besides, instructions have been given to intensify spraying of anti-larva solution and Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) in all districts.  IRS is the process of spraying the inside of dwellings aiming to kill mosquitoes for prevention of vector-borne diseases. Also, gambusia fish have been put in ponds in most districts of the state to eliminate mosquito larvae.
