Yogi Adityanath endorsed the ongoing encounter in the legislative Council

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath endorsed the ongoing encounter spree by the police in the legislative Council and declared that the drive to weed out criminals would continue. Interestingly, Yogi also targeted the Opposition accusing them of sympathising with criminals.

Reacting to legislative Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav’s direction to his government for a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into three encounters of Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida), Yogi said that such direction should not come from the Chair of the House as it was beyond it’s power.

Reacting to the Opposition’s uproar in the House over growing encounters in the state, the CM while speaking in the Upper House during Zero Hour pointed toward the opposition and said that everybody knew who patronised criminals.

``Who knows it better then the leader of Opposition about who had given patronage to criminals,” asserted Yogi while informing that 40 dreaded criminals have been gunned down in 1200 encounters and the process would continue.

The CM was replying to BJP member Devendra Pratap Singh’s question on propriety pertaining to the February 13 directive of Chairman Ramesh Yadav asking the Yogi government to get a CBI probe conducted into three cases, including two of police encounters.

“It is unfortunate that some people are sympathising with criminals. This is dangerous for democracy. The Noida incident on February 3 in which Jitendra Yadav was hit by a bullet was not an encounter and the police to did not mention so. Even the person affected had endorsed it,” Yogi said.

The CM urged the Chair to consider questions raised by Devendra Pratap Singh.

To this, leader of Opposition Ahmed Hasan (SP) said that the Chair had already directed the government to get a CBI probe conducted. “Now it can either recommend a CBI probe or may not do so. What is the relevance of the objection,” Hassan asked.

later, Chairman Ramesh Yadav said that he would reserve his decision on the question of propriety raised by Singh.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party members came to the Well and raised slogans demanding action against killers of Raj Bhadhur Yadav in Azamgarh and demanded adequate support price for potato.

SP members including Ahmed Hassan demanded action against killers of Raj Bahadhur Yadav in Azamgarh and urged to stop the proceedings and have a debate over the issue.  The leader of the House replied on the action taken so far but not convinced with the reply, SP members raised anti-government slogans and walked out of the House.

On the issue of demanding debate on providing adequate purchase price for potato, SP members were agitated with the Government’s reply. They came to the Well of the House and raised slogans against the government. The Chairman of the House later forwarded the matter to the government for necessary action.
