Attacking the opposition parties, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Indian National Congress believed in propping up their family instead of serving the nation.
Addressing a poll meeting in Lakhimpur Kheri on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that SPA represented a family where all senior members were holding important posts in the party while the BSP centres around Mayawati, who catered more to her ‘bhai and bhatija’ and the Congress revolved around ‘bhai and behan’.
“Thus, leaders of all these parties have their own vested interests in politics,” he said.
“These leaders have nothing to offer to the people or the country as they cannot think over and above their family. They serve their family interests more than thinking about the welfare of the country,” the Chief Minister said.
Taking a jibe at Congress, Yogi said that Rahul Gandhi had given a call to eradicate poverty but was silent on who allowed people to remain poor in the last 50 years of Congress rule.
Yogi said, “Congress has lies in its DNA. They say they will give NYAY (justice)... we say you (Congress) have always done injustice with the people here. How will you give NYAY now”.
“Today the Congress claims that its NYAY scheme policy will be a surgical strike on poverty, thereby admitting that the slogan of Indira Gandhi to remove poverty had failed.
The Chief Minister said that all policies of the Congress had failed. “During its regime, Congress used to feed biryani to terrorists but now the Narendra Modi government was feeding bullets to them,” he pointed out.
He also said that during Congress governments, Pakistani terrorists used to behead jawans but now when soldiers are martyred, it is avenged by going inside Pakistan.
“The Modi government has presented a model of development which revolves around ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’. In the BJP rule, people of all religion, creed and sect are equal while in Congress rule, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had claimed that Muslims had the first right over the country’s resources. But we believe that all the citizens have equal rights,” Yogi said.
The Chief Minister spoke about the achievements of Modi government and his government in UP and claimed that a vote to the opposition would only ‘weaken’ the country.
“The opposition has no common ideology or policy to protect the country from terrorists. Besides, most parties in the opposition have contradictory approach against each other,” he claimed.
Yogi further said that one vote to lotus (BJP election symbol) would strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi and take him closer to power.
