Accusing the opposition parties of doing politics of appeasement and spreading hatred among communities to prop up their vote banks, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the lists of their candidates reflected their vested interests.
Speaking at public meetings at Pathardeva, Salempur and Rudrapur assembly constituencies of Deoria district on Monday, Yogi said that on one hand, as the SP candidates’ list gave out a clear message that they were not ready to leave criminals, goons and rioters behind, on the other, the Bahujan Samaj Party list of candidates resembled a “Muslim League”, which proved that they would not give equal representation to all sections and regions.
Asserting that the SP and BSP regimes were synonymous with anarchy, terror and hooliganism, the chief minister said, "Whenever they (SP and BSP) ruled the state, riots took place. No riots took place in the last five years of the Bharatiya Janata Party rule. While 700 riots took place during the SP government, 364 riots took place during the BSP regime."
Yogi said that during SP’s government, even power distribution was based on the equations of caste and religion. "Power supply was uninterrupted during Eid and Bakr Eid, but there was no electricity during Holi and Diwali. In contrast, during the BJP regime, power supply was ensured round the clock without any discrimination, in line with the BJP mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’."
Declaring that UP government's Covid management fared well in comparison to many other states and countries, the chief minister said, "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the most populous state contained the COVID-19 pandemic efficiently. People are being provided free vaccines, testing facilities and treatment along with the free double-dose of food grains across the state."
On the free Covid vaccines and its effectiveness, Yogi said, "We gave free Covid vaccines to all. Misinformation was spread by some parties about the vaccine and it was termed as 'Modi vaccine' and 'BJP vaccine', but in the crisis, the same vaccine saved the lives of people. Had there been the government of SP or BSP, the vaccine would have been black marketed."
The chief minister went on to say that development for Samajwadi Party meant building boundaries of 'kabristan' (graveyards) but development for the BJP means providing water, electricity, ration and other facilities at the doorsteps of people.
Continuing his attack on the previous state governments, Yogi said, "Earlier even Goddess Lakshmi feared entering the state as the funds meant for development were caged behind walls by SP’s ‘Itra wale mitra’. The BJP has worked tirelessly and only aimed at the overall uplift and welfare of the poor."
Stating that the SP government stopped the pensions transferred to handicapped, widows and the elderly, the chief minister said, "Our government increased it to Rs 12,000 annually, and will increase it from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000 in the next five years."
Yogi maintained that if the BJP government returned to power in UP, free LPG would be provided to every poor during Diwali and Holi. He also stressed that a free scooty would be provided to meritorious girl students, and the amount of money given under Kanya Sumangala Yojana would be increased to Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh would be transferred to the beneficiary under the Mukhya Mantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana while the farmers’ tube well power bills would be reduced to zero.
"In the next five years, the BJP will work to connect one member of each family with a job, employment or self-employment scheme," he added.
