Stating that Etah had gained recognition through the development taking place in the region and no more for the presence of mafias, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday, said the upcoming thermal power project and the medical college would give new heights to the progress of the district.
Launching 255 development projects worth about Rs 420 crore in Etah, Yogi Adityanath said, “The bells manufactured in Etah’s Jalesar are propagating the ideals of Sanatan Hinduism all over the world and today the region is being known for development and not mafias. The upcoming thermal power plant and the medical college will give a new identity to the development of the district.”
Out of the 255 projects launched, the chief minister laid the foundation stones of about 106 projects and inaugurated 149 projects for the benefit of the common man, including projects relating to construction of roads, rural development, urban development, medicine, education and animal husbandry.
Moreover, the chief minister also distributed certificates to several beneficiaries and tablets/smartphones to the youth.
The chief minister also made an on-ground inspection of the Jawahar Thermal Project in the district. The first unit of the plant is expected to become operational by March 2023 and the second unit by the month of June.
Speaking about the project, Yogi said, “The thermal power plant being set up at a cost of about Rs 12,300 crore will boost electricity generation and Etah will get recognition as the district providing power supply to places. The plant will generate employment opportunities for the youth.”
The chief minister on the occasion directed officials to open a Skill Development Centre in Etah to make the youth of the region employable and to ensure the availability of smart classes in the schools of Etah and nearby villages under ‘Operation Kayakalp’.
Yogi went on to say that Etah which dreamt of having a medical college would soon have its own medical college, providing better health care services to the people in the district.
“Today the government is working with a development-oriented approach by eliminating the mafias who act as termites when it comes to development,” he pointed out.
The chief minister said that Uttar Pradesh's Etah district known for its bells, without which every ritual remained incomplete, would also provide a grand bell for the temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya.
Reiterating that everyone should feel proud of our heritage, the chief minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as India celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav year, has urged us to pledge as countrymen and be proud of our heritage. The Britishers, who once ruled us, are behind us today as India has risen as the world’s fifth leading economy.”
Development of infrastructure, power plants, medical infrastructure, construction of expressways, airports, increasing investment – everything was giving a new impetus to the pace of development, Yogi said and adding that the government was also benefiting the needy through its welfare schemes without any kind of discrimination.
Highlighting the COVID-19 management in the country and in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said that over 39 crore doses of Covid vaccine had been administered in the state which was a testimony to the sensitivity and accountability the government held for the people.
The chief minister also inspected and inaugurated the Manpur sewage treatment plant (STP) project in Etah district later in the day.
