On the backdrop of the scheduled parley between West Bengal CPI (M) leaders with Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, CPI (M) General secretary, Sitaram Yechuri ruled out any poll alliance with the Congress.
“We can stage agitation with the Congress and join them over some issues, but there is no question of any electoral alliance in West Bengal,” he told reporters in lucknow on Monday.
Yechuri, who was speaking at a private function in lucknow, said “I have come to know about that Congress having taken some decisions regarding West Bengal polls, but we are not aware of it at present.”
The CPI (M) leader said that his party is strengthening the non-BJP and non-Congress secular front and at this moment there was no question of any such electoral pact. He, however, said that the picture will be clear in the next 2 to 3 days.
“We had marched to Rashtrapati Bhawan with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi over the issue of land Acquisition Bill and we can do it again over some other issues. But poll pact is another thing which we consider cannot happen now,” he stated.
