Yadav says holistic development to be yardstick

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that holistic development of the people including their physical development and mental enlightenment should be the yardstick to measure a nation’s progress instead of hackneyed GDP.

“The GDP is the not the true yardstick to measure a nation’s growth. That country is developed where its people are educated and are physically fit,” Yadav said while laying a foundation stone of a BJS-Vigyatam campus here on Thursday.

The said campus, run by an educational trust, will come up in Noida. In next 10 years it will have engineering, management, dental and nusing schools.

Chief Minister said that his government is promoted all those organisations that spread the light of knowledge. “The samajwadis believe that actual education is one in which knowledge enlightens the mind. Such kind of education makes man tolerant, able, successful and polite,” Yadav said.

He hoped that the Trust will be able to impart quality education among the students. “I appeal to the BJP Trust to set up such educational institutions across the state. The Samajwadi Party government will extend all help to them,” he said.

The said trust already runs educational institutions in Varanasi, Chitrakoot and Naimisharanya.

Jagatguru Nirmalanand Nath Mahaswami said that the Trust proposes to strat mode educational institutions in other parts of the state. “Though our Muth is a religious organisation but we give importance to education. We have over 565 centres across the country where we impart education to over 1 lakh students,” he said.
