Piqued over frequent criticism of Akhilesh Yadav Government by Governor, the Samajwadi Party has demanded that Ram Naik should be removed from the post and should be made BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the forthcoming 2017 assembly elections.
In a statement issued here on Monday SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said that the way Governor had issued unparliamentary language against the State Government “he is not fit to be addressed as His Excellency”.
“Naik has lowered the prestige of gubernatorial post by giving unsolicited statements against the Samajwadi Party Government,” he said. “I request Prime Minister to remove Naik from this constitutional post and make him BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the next assembly elections so that he can criticize the government to the hilt,” Yadav said in his written statement.
He said Naik should publically apologise for lowering the dignity of Governor’s post.
What has disturbed the Samajwadi Party leadership is Governor’s statement that people of one caste are being given preference in this Government and during press conference Naik had said that he would speak to Chief Minister in this regard.
“Almost everyday Governor is issuing statements against the state government but few days back his statement that `UP Government is concerned about the dominance of only one cast’ shows his mental bankruptcy,” SP’s national general secretary said.
He even issued a list of Yadav officers to buttress his point. The list says that among 53 Principal secretaries only 1 is Yadav, among 21 secretary rank officers 2 are Yadavs. Of the total 28 posts of Director/Managing Director there are two Yadavs and out of 75 district magistrates there are 8 Yadavs. Again, of the 25 Chief Development Officers there are only 6 Yadavs.
Among 210 PCS officers only 14 are Yadavs. There are total 338 IPS posts out of which Yadav caste people are in 19 posts only. He gave similar examples in other departments like PWD where the number of Yadavs are less.
“These figures suggest that Yadav’s representation is almost negligible in administration and Governor’s statement that Yadav’s are calling the shot in administration shows his ignorance about the ground reality,” he said.
Yadav said such a person has no right to remain in office.
