Yadav guilty again

Yadav Singh, who once came to limelight after raids by sleuths of the Income Tax department, had used his influence to dump the proposed enquiry into large scale irregularities made in illegal allotment of 319 farmhouses in Greater Noida.

Interestingly, the then district magistrate of Noida, had recommended probe into both farm house allocation scams in Greater Noida as well as 153 farm houses in NOIDA but the present state government after much hue and cry just ordered probe into NOIDA case but preferred to remain silent on the large scale irregularities made in Greater Noida.

``When I was handed over to enquiry of irregularities in allotment of 153 farmhouses in NOIDA, I also go through the letter written by than DM of Noida, MKS Sundaram (Dated May 4, 2012), which pointed that rules were openly violated in allocation of 319 farm houses in Greater Noida, in which recommendations have been made to enquire and fix the responsibility of officials of Irrigation Department who gave NOC despite of land belonging to Banks of Yamuna, as well against officials of Greater Noida”, confirmed lokayukt, NK Mehrorta when contacted on Tuesday afternoon.

``The Government should have hand over that probe also to come competent agency but the reason which is not in my knowledge, enquiry only in NOIDA farmhouse scam has been ordered”, added Mehrorta while not ruling possibility of some pressure behind pushing the matter under the carpet. He confirmed that when the scam took place, Yadav Singh was than posted at Greater Noida also, though he said that he was not aware whether the controversial officer had any role into it or not.

On the NOIDA land scam, Mehrorta said that he summoned notices to each and every one including senior leaders of Bharatiya Janta Party, who were also complainant, but too his surprise no one had come up with any evidence. He confirmed that in the greater NOIDA scam, the list of beneficiaries included judges of the high court and Apex court, advocates, bureaucrats, politicians etc and in many cases, the name of owners has been just mentioned by his caste or some other code words. Interestingly, the list of beneficiaries in Greater NOIDA farmhouse scam which is now with `The Pioneer’ confirmed large scale bungling as it contains improper information and other details.

Sources further said that a present Congress MP had facilitated Yadav Singh’s rise by bringing him close to BSP chief Mayawati. Sources said that during 1995, when Mayawati became chief minister, and this Congress leader was his one of her advisors, he introduced him to BSP chief and after that Yadav Singh never look back. Though his fortunes dipped after Samajwadi Party came to power in 2012. He was not only suspended but a CB CID enquiry has been ordered against him in connection with Rs 954 crore scam in construction of various monuments and memorials in the name of Dalit scions.

The then Noida Authority chief executive officer, Sanjeev Saran, had a suspension notice pasted at Singh’s house. He also got the office of Singh sealed while relieving him of his charges before suspending him. An FIR was filed against him along with two Ghaziabad-based construction companies — Tirupati and JSP — under various sections of the Indian penal Code, besides sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988), Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. Singh then left the country and on the recommendation of the Noida police a red corner notice was issued by Interpol. A five-star hotel in Noida was sealed on the assumption that he had a stake in it.

But soon, the red corner notice was withdrawn, the hotel was re-opened and made functional and the CB-CID went slow on the inquiries into the scam. Even his suspension was revoked in November 2013. Sources said that once again this Congress leader played a key role when this time he helped Yadav Singh, to get close to Samajwadi Party. Interestingly, a kin of this leader was posted in senior administrative position at Ghaziabad in 2013 and this is the period when Yadav Singh, also a SC officer came close to present SP government and soon he managed all the enquiries. Singh was given charge of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities and made as engineer-in-chief once again. Sources said that even now this Congress leader is frequenting lucknow for last couple of days to settle the dust and once again give new lease of life to Yadav Singh, who was yet to be place under suspension.
