In a shocking incident highlighting poor law and order situation, a 35-year- old woman was allegedly raped in a moving train and then pushed out of it resulting into her to suffer injuries at her right leg in Mau district in the wee hours on Sunday.

Incharge GRP, Mau Railway station said that a woman lost her right leg after she was pushed down from the moving train and she fell down from it. “Rape was not confirmed in the medical test which was conducted around 7.45 AM on Sunday. She had injuries at her right led and the wounds were detected to be three hours old in the medical test. Still the police are looking at all the angles,” he said. He added that he along with a team of the cops visited the victim’s house in Sahganj and was talking the family.

Sources in GRP said the woman was lying without clothes and was crying in pain when villagers noticed her. The victim told police that she was going home in Shahganj area in adjoining Jaunpur district by Tamsa passenger train last night when two men outraged her modesty and threw her out of the moving train when she resisted their act when the train was before Khurhat railway station. “The villagers brought her to Khurhat railway station for treatment at the district hospital, but seeing her condition as serious she was referred to a hospital in Varanasi,’ the sources said. They said the police tried to hush up the case when photographs of the woman went viral on news channels and social media.

Contrary to the claims, the incharge GRP said the Tamsa train passed the Mau railway station around noon and she had to go to Mau which fell on the other route. “The statement made by the woman are inconsistent and it seemed that she was in fear due which she is unable to give the exact detail of the train by which she was traveling,” he clarified.

This is second incident in one month. Earlier a college girl received serious head injuries after being pushed out of a moving train when a man attempted to snatch her purse in Bareilly. In another incident a woman passenger was robbed and thrown off a lucknow-bound express train by unidentified persons near Chitbaragaon railway station on Chappra-Varanasi section in Ballia district last month.
