In a bizarre incident reported from Baghpat, a woman strangled two of her kids and sat with their bodies the whole night before informing her neighbours about it on Thursday morning.
The local police rushed to the spot after learning about the killing and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The police also took the woman in custody and were making investigations.
Reports said that one Gulab Qureshi, hailing from Chhaprauli area of Baghpat, was a street vendor of readymade garments and used to travel to the neighbouring towns to run his business. He was married to Anjum about 10 years back and had two children - son Umar (5) and daughter Anshika (3) - from her.
On Wednesday night, Anjum, who was reportedly in mental distress, strangled both her children and later locked herself in the house with their bodies. She sat with the dead children for the whole night and on Thursday morning, she suddenly started crying loudly, saying that she had killed both her children.
The neighbours rushed to the house but on finding the doors locked from inside, they tried to open the doors and when their efforts failed they called the police.
The cops broke open the door only to find both the children lying dead and their mother weeping by their side. Her dupatta was found tied around the necks of the children.
Circle Officer of Baraut, Alok Singh, said that Anjum was alone with her children and her husband was away in Faridabad. He said that Gulab probably had some dispute with his wife over household affairs and later he left the district to sell clothes.
Singh said that the bodies were sent for post-mortem and they were interrogating Anjum to find out why she killed both the children.

According to the girl's father, the dogs attacked the girl when she went to throw waste in the jungle. He said about 8-10 stray dogs had attacked her and she was lying in a pool of blood when he found her.
The village residents accused the local administration of not paying attention to check the incidents of attack by stray dogs in the area.
