A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in an abandoned house in Shamli even as two minor children (aged 2 and 10 years) pleaded for mercy.
As per reports, main accused Mohd Shehzad (25), offered the woman, an acquaintance, and her children a lift in his car. Two of his accomplices were already in the vehicle.
Once the woman and her children sat in the car, Shehzad drove it to an isolated place and forcibly took the woman inside the abandoned house where he raped her while the other two men stood guard outside with the children.
When some passersby spotted the children and asked them what they were doing there, the two men fled the scene. “The woman was sent for medical examination while three men have been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). The accused have absconded but police teams have been deployed to arrest them at the earliest,” SHO Pankaj Tyagi said.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old rape accused allegedly hanged himself at a village in Faridpur, police said on Tuesday. Identified as Sunil Kumar, he was found hanging from a tree on Monday. Kumar was accused of raping a 19-year-old girl. An FIR was registered against him on Sunday on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.
The victim’s family alleged that Kumar raped her on Saturday when she went to relieve herself. Additional Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Agarwal said Kumar’s autopsy confirmed death by hanging but his viscera was being preserved to ascertain if he was poisoned.
Kumar’s family alleged that he was killed by the girl’s relatives. An FIR was also registered in this regard on the basis of his brother’s complaint against three members of the girl’s family. A purported video of the accused has also emerged in which he can be seen urging someone to save him while fearing threat to his life from the girl’s family members.
Faridpur SHO Daya Shankar said a detailed probe was going on into the matter.
