The police have arrested the accused brother-in-law and the killers and sent them to jail on Sunday.

According to reports, the victim’s brother-in-law is accused of having illicit relations with her. When he heard that his sister-in-law was getting married, he initially planned to kidnap her. However, later he decided to kill her for which he hired killers from different states.

The incident took place in Chalakpur village under Chilkana police station of Saharanpur on October 25, where a 20-year-old girl, Mahakara, was murdered. She was attacked with a knife and then shot dead.

Electronic surveillance was used to connect all the links in the case. Based on these clues, the police took Mahakara’s brother-in-law, Tauqeer, into custody on Saturday evening. During interrogation, Tauqeer confessed to planning Mahakara’s murder.

Tauqeer was deeply in love with Mahakara and upon learning about her marriage, he lost control. Tauqeer hired criminals from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and sought their help in planning the murder. Initially, he intended to kidnap Mahakara and gave a Rs 3-lakh contract to the criminals for this purpose. He had also sent an advance payment to the shooter’s bank account. However, on October 25, the brother-in-law, along with the criminals, went to Mahakara’s house and killed her.
