In a shocking incident, a girl killed her elder sister by stabbing her with a knife in the early hours in Deoria on Thursday.

The police are interrogating the accused sister who has been taken into custody.

Reports said that Nilofar Shaheen (45), daughter of Imtiaz Ahmed and resident of Fatehnagar ward of Deoria under Lar police station, was married in Tinsukia in Assam about 12 years ago. She has two twin sons, Abdul Rahim and Rehman, aged 10 years.

Nilofar Shaheen's husband left her in the maternal house about eight years ago and went somewhere. After that he did not come back, following which Nilofar was living in her father's house in Lar. Besides Nilofar, her younger sister Ghazala Tabassum also lives with his father as she is said to be mentally retarded and is yet to be married. Nilofar used to pass comments on her younger sister on several matters which depressed Tabassum. On Wednesday evening, there was an argument between the two sisters over some issue. Later after dinner, both the sisters went to sleep in the same room.

Reports said that around 3 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, Tabassum murdered Nilofar Shaheen by stabbing her several times with a knife. Hearing Nilofar’s screams, the family members and the neighbours rushed to her room to enquire about the matter and were shocked to see Nilofar lying on the blood-soaked bed. The family members tried to shift Nilofar to hospital but found that she had already died.

The local residents called the police after which Station House Officer of Lar police station, Naveen Kumar Singh, reached the spot along with a police force. The police sent the body for autopsy and took Tabassum in custody and were grilling her to extract the reason for her sister’s death.

The police also asked the family members to produce documents regarding Tabassum’s mental illness.

Meanwhile in Etawah district, a former gram pradhan was brutally murdered with an ax due to enmity over land in Saifai police station area.

The killer escaped after killing the former village head.

On receiving information, a police team along with forensic experts and sniffer dogs reached the spot and inspected the scene of crime. They also sent the body for post-mortem.

The deceased had gone to his field late on Wednesday night, where the assailants, who were waiting for him, ambushed him with an axe and killed him. The police launched a hunt for the killers.

The son of the deceased Ram Kishan said that his father was also the former head of Ladampur village. The deceased had a decade-long dispute with Ram Bahadur, a resident of the neighboring village Hirapur, regarding the land situated on the side of the expressway, and a panchayat was held over the dispute in the village a few days ago, but the matter was not resolved.

Late Wednesday night when Ram Kishan had gone for a walk in the field, the opposite party hacked him to death.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash Singh said that a 65-year-old man was murdered in Ladampur village under Saifai police station over a land dispute. Police sent the body for post-mortem. So far, the police have not received any written complaint from the relatives of the deceased. On receipt of a complaint, a case would be registered and legal action would be taken. The cops, however, launched a hunt for the killers.
