A 35-year-old woman, Rina Devi, suffered bullet injuries in the bid to save her husband from assailants in Bankat Bazaar area of Mubarakpur in Azamgarh district on Saturday.
During preliminary investigation, it came to light that Rina’s husband had purchased a land over which there was some dispute. Two teams have been formed under SP (City) for early arrest of the assailants, who have been named in the FIR lodged by the woman’s husband.
Police said that Rina Devi, a native of Purushottampur village under Mubarakpur police station had left home with husband to consult some doctor as she was unwell. When the couple reached Bankat market the assailants opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled. Rina suffered bullet injuries in the attack.
The locals immediately rushed her to the district hospital from where she was referred to the Trauma Centre of BHU in Varanasi in view of her deteriorating condition.
