In a sensational case, a woman was gang-raped and killed after which the accused burnt her face with acid to conceal her identity before dumping the body in a field.
The brutal killing was reported from Bhawanpur area of Meerut. Local villagers found a body lying in a cane field on Ladpura road in Medpur hamlet of Bhawanpur on Friday morning. They informed police after which senior officers reached the spot. As per circumstantial evidence, the victim was raped and brutally killed somewhere else before her body was dumped there. Her face was also burnt to conceal identity. After hectic efforts, her identified was ascertained and she was found to be a local resident. Her husband claimed she was mentally unwell and was missing for the last three days. The body was sent for autopsy while efforts were on to trace the accused.
In another case, a minor was gang-raped in Sadabad locality of Hathras and the two accused, said to be working in the army, had came to their native village on leave. According to reports, the victim had gone to her neighbour’s house on Wednesday night and when she was returning home, Mukesh and Saurabh caught hold of her. They pushed her towards a secluded place where both raped her before setting her free. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.
However, the victim reached home and shared her trauma with her family members, who informed police. The girl was shifted to a hospital for medical examination. Cops at the Sadabad police station claimed that they conducted raids after finding the allegations to be true and rounded up Mukesh from his house. On interrogation, he said he serves in the army and had come on leave. Saurabh, who has absconded, was also recruited in the army recently. Circle officer of Sadabad Brahmdev said they took cognisance of the matter and stern action would be taken against both the accused.
