A middle-aged woman was found murdered in Unnao while her daughter allegedly absconded with her lover.
The local cops along with senior officers who visited the spot suspect that the girl had killed her mother with the help of her lover and later they eloped.
The accused also tried to take costly belongings but left them in a hurry to escape from the spot. The cops have launched a hunt for the daughter and her lover who are absconding.
Jayaprakash Rawat, a resident of mohalla Civil Lines Banduhar in Unnao, who is a pharmacist in the district hospital, claimed that in November 2022, he rented the upper portion of the house to one Shashi, wife of Rajjan Singh, hailing from Purwa area of Unnao.
According to Rawat, Shashi, working in a nursing home, lived with her 22-year-old daughter Pooja alias Tanu Singh. On Sunday afternoon, he saw a youth visiting Shashi’s home to meet Tanu. He claimed that when he enquired about the youth, Tanu informed him that he was her cousin.
According to Rawat, when he found the gate of the house open at around 4 am on Monday, he went to the tenant Shashi's room, and saw the door latched from outside but heard the sound of a fan running inside. The door did not open even after calling several times.
He subsequently opened the latch and was shocked to see the body of Shashi's lying on the bed in a pool of blood and her daughter along with the youth missing.
ASP Shashi Shekhar Singh and CO (City) Ashutosh Kumar reached the spot and investigated the matter. Some jewellery and money were found in a bag while Shashi’s mobile was missing. A blood-stained knife was also found lying at the spot.
It seems that sometime in the night, Tanu and the youth, probably her lover, killed Shashi and escaped. It seems that Shahshi was opposed to the affair of her daughter which led to her murder.
The cops sent the body for post-mortem and launched a hunt for Tanu and the youth.
