In a sensational incident in Malikpur village under Agra’s Kirawali police station, a man beheaded his daughter-in-law and later walked with her severed head to surrender before the police on Tuesday morning.

Confessing to the crime, the man claimed that he took the extreme step after his daughter-in-law dared to raise her hand on him.

A case was registered and the man was taken into custody. The body was also sent for autopsy.

According to reports, Gaurav Singh, a resident of Malikpur, is a constable of the 2018 batch of UP Police. Presently he is posted at Farrukhabad. He is married to Priyanka, and has two children from her. Priyanka and her children were living with her father-in-law Raghuveer and other in-laws in Agra.

Reports said that Raghuveer had frequent disputes with his daughter-in-law over household matters. On Tuesday morning, Priyanka was cooking food when she again had some dispute with her father-in-law.

Raghuveer claimed that he lost his cool as during the confrontation, Priyanka raised her hand on him. Agitated with her behaviour, he picked up an axe and brutally attacked and beheaded her.

Meanwhile, the relatives of Priyanka, who arrived from Margora in Mathura, got agitated after seeing the dead body. They tried to block the highway. They calmed down after being persuaded by the police.

The relatives said that Priyanka got married eight years ago and had two little children so the government must give compensation to look after her kids and take stern action against the in-laws.

Meanwhile in Kannauj, a 24-year-old man was killed, allegedly by his brother-in-law and two others, in the district’s Thatia area, police said on Tuesday.

Riyaz was allegedly attacked on Monday by his brother-in-law, Chandbabu, and two others with knives while he was sleeping, police said.

The attack came after Riyaz’s sister Rafia returned to her parental home following an altercation with her husband.

Station House Officer of Thatia, Vikram Singh, said an FIR had been registered against the absconding Chandbabu and his accomplices and efforts were being made to nab them.
