Samajwadi Party has said it would contest assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and the likely to go alone in the elections. The party president Akhilesh Yadav earlier this week had visited Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh and met the Gujarat leader Hardik Patel.

The SP spokesman Rajendra chowdhary said here on Sunday that the party president received overwhelming response from the common people in Bhopal and from the farmers in Mandsur where several farmers were killed in police firing in 2017.   He said the people of Madhya Pradesh were fed up with the 15 year long rule of the BJP in the state and they want change.

The SP leader however did not clarify whether his party would enter into alliance with the Congress or the BSP.Reiterating the earlier assertion of the party president, Rajendra Chowdhary said that the Samajwadi party has good relations with the congress president Rahul Gandhi and MP state congress president Kamal nath. He said that Samjawadi Party is going to contest elections in Madhya Pradesh.  He however said that the discussions are on with several parties in Madhya Pradesh and it was not prudent to reveal the details at this juncture.

The SP leader mocking at the claim of the MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh, that roads in Madhya Pradesh were better than those in the US, the SP leader said one finds only potholes on the roads   in the entire state. He alleged that Madhya Pradesh was lagging behind in development while corruption was rampant in the BJP-ruled state.

He said that the CBI investigating   the Vyapam scam is yet to conclude the probe which is related to recruitment in government jobs and admissions in educational institutes). This scam has claimed several lives. The Centre’s data shows that Madhya Pradesh tops the country in the crime against women, but the BJP has mastered the art of distracting people’s attention from real issues, the Samajwadi Party leader said.
