Issuing an appeal to people asking them to vote for Samajwadi Party, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that if party comes to power it will provide free home and pension to all the people living below poverty line.
“The Samajwadi Party include in its manifesto to provide “House of all poor” and “pension for all BPl families”. Whatever we write in our manifesto we fulfill the same. The five year rule of Samajwadi Party is testimony to our commitment towards party manifesto,” Yadav said during a function where financial assistance for Daughter Marriage Subsidy Scheme was doubled here on Monday. The announcement came a day after Congress had declared that it will provide free houses to poor dalits if it comes to power in Uttar Pradesh. “The SP Government has done a lot of things for the state in a transparent way, which included “Samajwadi Pension” to 55 lakh families, 24 hours electricity in the urban areas and 18 hours in the rural areas besides now has introduced “Dial-100 Scheme” which has brought police stations to the door-steps of the poor in the state,” he said.
In his address Chief Minister attacked Narendra Modi Government over its demonetisation move saying by bringing Rs 2,000 currency note the Government was promoting the black money. “The claim of the Centre to end black money by scrapping Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes has boomeranged as now the Rs 2,000 note has started flourishing the black money in the country,” he said and took a jibe saying even the Rs 2,000 currency note is getting dis-coloured thus questions are being raised about quality of printing. “The economy of the country has been hit by this insane decision to cull high value currency notes. The people have started feeling the pinch and they will teach a lesson to the party,” he said.
Talking about the new scheme to double financial subsidy up to Rs 20,000 for the marriage of daughter of a poor family, Yadav said the poor family, whose annual income is below Rs 56,460 in the urban area and Rs 46,080 a year in the rural areas can avail the benefit through online application. Each family can avail marriage subsidy for two daughters. In 2016-17, the State Government is expected to provide this financial help to 2 lakh families by spending Rs 400-crore. Earlier, the Government used to give Rs 10,000 as subsidy for the marriage of the daughters under the same scheme. Social Welfare Minister Shankh lal Manjhi and Principal Secretary Social Welfare Manoj Singh also spoke on the occasion.
