In yet another embarrassment for Uttar Pradesh Police, a video of a cop went viral on social media platforms including Twitter, in which he is seen admitting to policemen taking bribes and getting work done during a chat with students at a ‘Police ki Pathshala’ programme organised in Unnao.
In the 36-second video, the policeman is heard saying, "If the police take money, it gets the job done. Even today, if there is an honest department, it is the police department. If a policeman takes money from you and says that he will do the work, he ensures that the work is done. In other departments, you have to run from pillar to post despite paying up. Look at the teachers, they teach while staying at home, and if coronavirus surfaces, he/she will not come (to school) for a year. But, our duty is heightened if there is a pandemic," the cop told students.
Taking note of the video, the Unnao police brass directed an investigation into the matter. Circle Officer of Bighapur, Unnao has been directed to investigate the matter and file a report, the Unnao Police said in a tweet.
