Clashes over dancing on their favourite songs during marriage functions left two persons dead in Bulandshahr and Ghazipur respectively.
In Bulandshahr, a young man was allegedly beaten to death at a wedding function after the DJ turned down a request to play a Sapna Chaudhary song.
The incident took place at a marriage hall in Bulandshahr in Kotwali police circle late Monday night. The man was admitted to a medical facility where he died during treatment on Tuesday.
According to reports, some youth were dancing at a wedding when they demanded that the DJ play a song of Sapna Chaudhary. When the DJ refused, they became violent and this led to a clash between two groups at the function.
The police registered a case against four persons and sent the body of the deceased for post-mortem.
The alleged accused were detained for questioning and eyewitnesses were being examined.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Bulandshahr, Santosh Kumar Singh, claimed that the deceased had tried to intervene during the clash and suffered a heart attack.
“Prima facie, it appears that he died due to cardiac arrest. The matter is under investigation and action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
An eyewitness at the wedding claimed that a group of youths, in an inebriated condition, demanded that a Sapna Chaudhary song be played but the DJ expressed his inability to do so.
“As soon as the DJ said that he did not have the song, the youths got violent and began beating up the DJ and his support group. The victim was also beaten and he fell to the ground,” the eyewitness said.
In Ghazipur district, the members of a marriage party clashed with the bride’s relatives over the playing of DJ and it also claimed the life of the groom’s kin.
On Tuesday night, the marriage procession of Rajendra Yadav, a resident of Kasimabad, left for Rasoolpur. Soon after the procession reached the bride’s place, some members of the groom’s side jumped on the stage and forced the DJ to change the song. This irked the youths from the bride’s side and the clash took place between the two groups.
The situation took an ugly turn when some kin from the bride’s side opened fire in which the groom’s cousin, identified as Roshan, was injured.
He was rushed to the district hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.
The police also reached the spot and with the help of footage of video recording of the marriage function, the shooters were identified as Golu Yadav and Bholu Yadav.
A case was registered against them and efforts were on to arrest them.
Meanwhile in Bulandshahr, a young man was arrested minutes before his marriage on charges of sexually exploiting a woman and forcing her to take pregnancy termination pills when she became pregnant.
The woman died at a hospital in Meerut on Tuesday after she was given the pills by the accused.
