In a sensational incident reported from Kaushambhi, a youth who raped his 6-year-old neighbour and killed her to conceal the crime, was nabbed and lynched by the agitated villagers on Wednesday night. A case has been registered in this regard by the police and investigations are on after sending both the bodies for post-mortem examination.
Reports said that 25-year-old Puttu Nishad, hailing from Bhogpurwa hamlet of Saraiakil in Kaushambhi district, had lured a girl child residing in his neighbour on Wednesday evening. He took her to a secluded place near a river and raped her. later in fear of being arrested, Puttu reportedly killed the girl and dumped her body before returning his home.
In the meantime, when the family members found the girl missing, they launched a hunt and during search, some villagers revealed that they saw her in accompany of Puttu. Subsequently, the family members nabbed Puttu and grilled him before the villagers to tell the truth. After over half an hour of efforts, Puttu broke down and confessed of raping and later killing the girl. The villagers later took him to the spot to verify the statements.
Reports further said that as the villagers saw the body of the girl, they lost their cool and brutally assaulted Puttu, injuring him critically. The local police who by then reached the venue, shifted Puttu to hospital but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
A five-year-old girl was also allegedly raped by a teenage boy in lar area here of Deoria. The incident took place on Wednesday evening, when the girl was playing outside her home and the 14-year-old accused took her to nearby orchard and raped her. An FIR has been registered in this regard and police is trying to arrest the accused, who was absconding from the house. The victim was admitted in district hospital.
