Vikas Rath Yatra turned out to be a 'Diwaliya Rath Yatra : Mayawati

Targeting the ruling SP and CM Akhilesh Yadav again on its Rath Yatra, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the Vikas Rath Yatra turned out to be a ‘Diwaliya (bankrupt) Rath Yatra’. On Thursday, Mayawati had termed the Vikas Rath as ‘Badhaal (dismal) Vikas Yatra’.

In a statement released on Friday, Mayawati said that the Yatra by a luxury bus was nothing but misuse of government funds and machinery.

“Besides, hooligans who came from different parts of the state to join the Yatra fought among themselves and heckled and attacked the common people on lucknow roads,” Mayawati alleged.

The BSP chief also hit out at the musical advertisement of the ruling SP titled ‘Kaam Bolta Hai.

“If it was ‘kaam bolta hai’ (works speak for itself) then what was the need of bringingout a lavish Rath Yatra to make people aware ofthe regime’s work,” she questioned.

Mayawati castigated the ruling party for the deaths of hundreds of people due to Dengue, deteriorating law and order and misuse of power. “The prent SP dispensation has been an abject failure and people are waiting for the right time to teach them a lesson,” she said.

The former UP Chief Minister said that the SP government criticised the BSP for making parks comemorating Dalit icons which are under neglect, but now they arethemselves misusing public money for lohia Park and Etawah lion Safari. “Is the SP regime not adopting double standards,” she querried.

“Contrary to development claims, the SP regime has gained notoriety for rampant corruption. Once the BSP comes to power, a threadbare probe will be carried out to bring out truth before the public,” she promised.

Alleging a nexus between the BJP and the ruling SP, Mayawati said that this was evident as no SP leader speaks openly against the Modi government while the BJP reciprocates by going soft on the failure of Akhilesh Yadav’s government.
