Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who is also the state president of the party has expelled senior party leader and former district panchayat chairman of lucknow Vijay Bahadur Yadav and his wife Maya Yadav, from the party for the involvement of the former in land grabbing incident. Maya Yadav is the chairperson of the district panchayat lucknow.
Vijay Bahadur Yadav was also arrested on Friday for allegedly grabbing the gram samaj in Baghamau village under Chinhat police station on Thursday.
Rajendra Chowdhary, the SP spokesman said here on Friday that the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav took a very serious view of the incident as the misconduct of Vijay Bahadur Yadav tarnished the image of the party. He said the chief minister who is also the state president of the party ordered for his expulsion from the party.
On Thursday around a dozen persons were injured when Vijay Bahadur Yadav along with a history sheeter Raghunandan Kalia and around 100 supporters attacked the villagers at Baghamau village and forcibly tried to grab the gram samaj land. The villagers of Baghamau resisted the attempts to grab the land and in the ensuing clash over a dozen persons were injured and one person was rushed to trauma centre in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, Vijay bahadur Yadav has termed the action by the party as a political conspiracy against him and his wife. "My wife is totally innocent but she had been dragged in it," he said.
Samajwadi Party sources said Vijay Bahadur Yadav was a claimant for the ticket from Bakshi Ka Talab assembly seat in lucknow, presently held by Gomati Yadav of the Samajwadi party. Vijay Bahadur Yadav had a running feud with Gomati Yadav. SP sources said the political rivalry is also one of the reasons for the expulsion of Vijay Bahadur Yadav from the party. SP leadership was not happy with Vijay Bahadur Yadav as during the panchyat elections held in January last he had defied the diktat of the party. Against the wishes of the party he got his wife Maya Yadav elected as the chairperson of the district panchyat of lucknow.
