After suspending SSP of Prayagraj, Abhishek Dixit and SP of Mahoba, Manilal Patidar, in the last two days, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered Vigilance Establishment to probe into their properties and assets.

Both officers were accused of corruption in posting of subordinates, disobeying government orders and negligent policing.

An FIR was also registered against suspended Mahoba SP Manilal Patidar, Inspector of Charkhari, Rajesh Kumar Saroj, and Sub-Inspector Kherala Raju Singh in Mahoba Nagar police station under different sections of the Indian Penal Code and anti-corruption law for extorting money from truckers on Thursday.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of PP Pandey Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Lucknow and the SP was charged of demanding money to allow stone chip loaded trucks to run in the area.

Earlier, Mahoba businessman Indrakant Tripathi had made a video viral last Saturday, alleging that he had to pay a bribe of Rs 6 lakh to Paatidar every month. He said that when he requested that the graft amount be lowered as business was slowing down, the SP threatened to get him murdered.

Incidentally, Tripathi was shot at and critically injured on Wednesday but the Mahoba police was yet to register a case.

Social activist Nutan Thakur said that a case must be registered against Patidar for making an attempt on Tripathi’s life and the probe be handed over to the CBI.

Meanwhile, an official communiqué issued on Thursday in Lucknow said that the properties and benami assets of these two IPS officers would be probed. Besides, DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi would investigate these officers themselves.

The new SP of Mahoba, Arun Kumar Srivastava, suspended two police outpost in-charges and a constable for corruption.
