Victims reached the state capital for justice

The son of a state minister in Yogi government reportedly tried to grab land belonging to Dalits to open a petrol pump in lalitpur district of Bundelkhand region. Several dozen victims reached the state capital on Thursday to seek justice.

They claimed that the DM of lalitpur and other officials were hand-in-glove with the accused and they were denied of any support from the administration to get their land back.

Kundan and dozen of villagers from Balabehat locality of lalitpur claimed that Chandu aka Chandrashekher, former member of Zila Panchayat and son of minister of state Manohar lal Munnu Kori came to their area on January 20 last. Chandu was accompanied by his henchmen and bulldozers and despite strong protests by villagers, the goons razed down houses of the victims just because he wanted to grab the land to open a petrol pump.

The villagers claimed that they informed the District Magistrate and when he refused to help, they sat on an indefinite dharna. But since then, the administration refused to give them relief as Kori is a legislator from Mehruni (Reserved) constituency of lalitpur and is also a minister. He said that left with no options,  they came to lucknow to lodge a protest with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The villagers also went to Congress office and pleaded the leaders to pursue their matter so that they could get their land back. Kundan also said that they would not return to lalitpur as the administration had threatened to book them in fake cases if if they continued to raise the matter.
