Continuing with his tirade against Mulayam Singh Yadav Union Minister for Steel Beni Prasad Verma said Muzaffarnagar riots were the handiwork of Samajwadi Party and BJP and if Akhilesh Government was serious in exposing the truth he should order CBI probe into the incidents that led to riot.
"Everyone wants to know the truth behind these riots. Particularly Muslims who were on the losing side of the battle want the truth should come to light. They are angry with Samajwadi Party and they blame government for triggering riots. So it is prudent that Government should order CBI probe into the matter,'' he told reporters here on Sunday.
He said that what happened in Muzaffarnagar it was because of the nexus between the SP and the BJP. It was a strategy between the two parties to use this situation for political gains. The BJP started the violence and SP Government gave its tacit support to the rioters, " he said.
Verma, one time close friend of Mulayam Singh Yadav, said that it is the right time for Samajwadi party to clear its name from this riot by going for CBI probe. But it will not do so because once it is done some of its senior leaders will be exposed and could be sent to jail.
He even revealed that Mulayam Singh and senior BJP leaders like lal Krishna Advani enjoyed good rapport. ''I have a specific information that Mulayam wanted to poplarise the voters for his own benefit all the time and hence allied with the BJP,'' he said ''I am ready for an open debate with Mulayam Singh Yadav over all the issues,'' he said.
