The vaccination drive in UP is gathering momentum with the state recording the highest number of doses administered to people in the last 24 hours. Ahead of Maharashtra, UP administered more than 2.79 lakh vaccine doses on May 24.
“While the opposition leaders are continuously engaged in complaining and spreading misinformation regarding the vaccine, the UP CM is going from one district to another and from one village to another, appealing to people to get their vaccine dose. It is the result of this proactive approach that gives confidence to people. On May 24 itself, UP administered 2,79,184 vaccine doses while Maharashtra stood second with 2,47,633 doses,” a government spokesman said.
So far, UP has given 1,65,43234 vaccine doses to the 45+ category. As for the 18-44 group, the state has administered 12,15,017 doses, according to official data.
“It is evident from the steep fall in the Covid positivity rate and the increasing recovery rate that the testing strategy and maximum vaccination is showing results. Uttar Pradesh is on its way to defeat the disease,” he said.
The CM also asked mediapersons in Mirzapur on Tuesday to create awareness among people so that they could shed inhibitions and misconceptions related to vaccination.
In a high-level Covid review meeting with the officials, Yogi asked for an action plan for the ‘Guardian Special' vaccination campaign.
“Parents of children under 12 years are required to be vaccinated with priority. A suitable action plan should be prepared in this regard. ‘Guardian Special’ booths should be set up in every district,” the CM said.
He asked the officials to contact such parents and invite them for vaccination as this will be useful for the protection of the parent as well as the children.
“Vaccination proceedings should be conducted systematically, seamlessly and effectively. Vaccination should be effectively managed with a complete action plan should be made keeping in mind zero wastage. Vaccination work should go on smoothly at all the centres and for that a month’s planning should be done in advance,” the CM said.
Yogi has said that vaccination of people in the 18-44 age group should begin in all the districts from June 1. Currently, people in the 18-44 age group are being vaccinated only in 23 of the 75 districts.
