The Uttar Pradesh government has once again rejected the demand of a CBI Probe into the killing of two brothers-Sachin and Gaurav—of Kawal village that led to riots in Muaffarnagar.

A 10-member ministers Sadhavana committee, led by PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, rejected the demand of a CBI probe after meeting the family members of the deceased brothers.

However, the sisters of the deceased misbehaved with the ministers and questioned why the government was taking one-sided action. The Muzaffarnagar riots were triggered after the murders of Gaurav and Sachin when they allegedly killed Shanawaz for teasing their sister.

However, some Muslim leaders of the area informed the ministers’ committee that till the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leaders Rakesh Tikait and Naresh Tikait were arrested the situation in the area would not normalise.

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Ajay Agarwal, who recently resigned from the National Secretary post of Samajwadi Party and joined the BJP, sent a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee to impose President’s rule in UP in wake of the Muzaffarnagar riots.

In his letter Agarwal said the law and order situation in UP is bad and President’s rule would be the appropriate action against the inefficient governance of Akhilesh Yadav.
