After being drubbed badly in the recent Parliament elections, Uttar Pradesh Congress tried to bounce back to the centre stage of politics by threatening the state government to take streets if the current power scenario would not change immediately.
``On one hand the mercury is rising with every passing day, and on the other hand state government failed to even provide proper electricity to the citizens which also resulted into water scarcity causing severe problems for everyone”, claimed spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Amarnath Agarwal, here on Saturday evening. ``What is more shocking is the media reports which pointed that even emergency operations that too in premiere medical colleges and institutes have been postponed due to irregular power supply”, UPCC spokesman added while threatening that the Congressmen would soon took streets if the government not improved the power scenario. ``All the hospital and other important installations related to essential services must be provided uninterrupted power supply”, he demanded.
Amarnath further warned the government stating that they would also force to hold demonstration if the Government once again put further pressure on the public by raising the power traffic as proposed. ``None of the non-Congress governments including that of Bharatiya Janta Party which had ruled the state for last 25 years now, had done efforts to add a single unit of extra power generation than what left at the time of exit of Congress from UP in 1989”, Amarnath alleged while leveling allegations that all the government just raised power tariff but had done nothing to improve the power scenario. He even accused that many of the power generation plants have been also sold by the Opposition Parties posing a great problems before the public.
