Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati alleged that ‘Upwas’ of the BJP was merely ‘Uphas’ (joke) on the people of the country to cover up for the lapses of the Modi-led Central government.
“The Modi government is violating all democratic norms. In fact, they were responsible for disruption of the Parliament as they were not ready to answer on the bank scam, Dalit atrocities and no-confidence motion moved by the opposition. Now, to divert attention, they are fasting to cover up for the failures,” te BSP chief said.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mayawati said that the BSP condemned the act of the BJP and seeks an apology from the Centre for its undemocratic attitude.
Meanwhile, the former UP Chief Minister criticised the BJP for protecting rape accused MlA Kuldeep Singh Sengar.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi should sit on Upwas in Varanasi to seek an apology from the people of the state over the Unnao rape in which his party MlA is responsible,” she said.
Claiming that jungle raj prevailed in UP under the present BJP regime, Mayawati said that recommending a CBI probe into the Unnao rape case was an eyewash and it is headed the Byapam way wherein all political accused were given clean chits.
