UP's development mantra lies with SP: Akhilesh

launching development schemes in eastern UP, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that only the Samajwadi Party knew how to take the state forward and improve urban and rural lives.

“Our government is building roads, providing irrigational facilities to farmers and bringing the poor under the social security umbrella. Which other government in the country could think of doing it in the first three years of its regimeIJ” Yadav queried addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Bhinga-Bahraich four-lane road on Tuesday.

He said the Opposition parties used to call his schemes a gimmick. “When we started distributing laptops, the Opposition called it ‘jhunjhuna’ (plaything). But now the same party has adopted the scheme and implementing it among meritorious students in states ruled by them. This shows that our schemes are not bad,” he said.

In his one-day visit to Shravasti in eastern UP district bordering Nepal, Yadav launched schemes worth Rs 275 crore. These include construction of a Polytechnic, opening connecting roads and construction of bus stand at Bhinga. He also laid foundation stones of projects worth Rs 500 crore which include laying and widening of roads, construction of ITI in Ikona and a Mandi Parishad building in Bhinga. “This government is spreading the network of roads. We believe that if we can double the speed we can treble the economy. Thus, all district headquarters are being connected with durable roads. We have plans to build RCC road between Gonda and Balrampur,” Yadav said.

“I have travelled on these roads during the last Rath Yatra and so I know the situation. Therefore, my government is committed to improving the quality of roads,” he said.

Talking about the achievements of his government, Yadav said that medicines were being distributed free of cost and the number of ambulances had been increased so that patients could be taken to hospitals as soon as possible. He added the government was committed to improve availability of electricity by December 2016.

On the occasion, the CM also distributed laptops to 453 meritorous students, Kanya Vidya Dhan to 222 girls and  Samajwadi Pension to 500 poor women.
