The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regularity Commission (UPERC) has directed the UP Power Corporation limited (UPPCl) to hold consumer courts on a regular basis on every 17th day of a month to solve the problems of the power consumers.

In a recent order, UPERC Chairman Desh Deepak Verma has asked the UPPCl to hold the consumer courts in every district.

"If there is holiday on the 17th day of a month then the consumer court should be held on the next working day," the directive said.Verma said this decision would help consumers in getting their problems solved at a regular basis and in turn it would also help the UPPCl in knowing where it was lacking and what were the grievances of the consumers.

The UPERC Chairman also said that from January 8 next, discussions would be started with the parties and consumers concerned over the proposed reforms in the power sector and the facilities to be provided to the consumers.
