Reacting sharply to absence of UP power Corporation limited (UPPCl) chairman, Sanjeev Mittal in a public hearing over hike in power tariff, a consumer body on Thursday demanded chief minister to remove official from the post.

On Wednesday UPPCl chairman, Mittal was not present in the public hearing held by    UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) over proposed hike in power tariff.

Making it an issue, the consumers had passed a resolution condemning apathetic attitude of higher energy department officials toward plight of consumers.

UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad (UPRVUP) chairman, Avadhesh Kumar Verma said, while the state was reeling under acute power crisis, the officials neglecting plight of consumers should be removed by chief minister.
