UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has asked District Magistrates of four districts to expedite the process of land acquisition for Purvanchal Expressway linking lucknow to Ballia. The expressway will link Ballia in east UP with national capital Delhi.

Chief Executive Officer of UPEIDA Avneesh Awasthi on Monday reviewed progress of land acquisition for the project in nine districts. Against the required 4,724 hectares of land, only 1,827 hectares land has been purchased by district authorities from farmers. The available land is 36.67 percent of the land required for the project.

The CEO directed District Magistrates of lucknow, Ghazipur, Azamgarh and Barabanki to speed up the process of purchasing land from farmers and directed to ensure availability of the land in the next two months.

Awasthi said that required funds have been made available to the DMs for payment of compensation of land to the owners.   He said the DMs have been asked to ensure that the purchase of land and payment of compensation was conducted in a transparent manner. “The payment of compensation be credited into the bank accounts of land owners,” he said.
