Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Kumar `Lallu’ once again demanded dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, questioning the Bharatiya Janata Party government on this issue at a press conference held at the party's state headquarters here on Monday.
Accusing the government of shielding Teni in the case, Lallu raised a finger over the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, claiming that just as Teni was a minister and holding Home portfolio, the probing team allowed him to go scot free.
“Teni is accused under Indian Penal Code Section 120B for hatching a conspiracy to kill farmers. His name is in the complaint handed over to the police by the farmers. The SIT should tell how many times they called Teni for investigation. Why was the name of the minister first not mentioned in the FIR and now also not finds no place in the charge sheet even when the Thar Jeep used to crush the farmers under a well orchestrated plan was registered in Teni’s name,” questioned Lallu while saying that Teni should be immediately sacked from the ministry so that a fair probe could be made in the case.
Lallu further said that such a big incident was not possible without the behest of the Union minister of state for home but Home Minister Amit Shah could not see it just like he did not see criminals and crimes which rocked UP almost daily.
“If Amit Shah’s binoculars are not working to see crime and criminals, then Congress will provide him another?” said Lallu while taking a jibe over Shah’s statement that he failed to see any crime in UP even after using binoculars.
Meanwhile, to galvanise the party workers and to make a better reach to the masses before the Election Commission issues notification for the coming assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra plans to hold marathon rallies from Noida to Prayagraj. These marathon rallies will take place from January 4 to 8.
Priyanka will hold six marathon rallies commencing from Bareilly on January 4, Azamgarh on January 5, Varanasi on January 6, Kanpur on January 7 and finishing on January 8 in Noida and Prayagraj.
Congress aims to fight back harder in the 2022 assembly elections making Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the prime face during the election campaigns. Recently Congress tried to woo women voters by launching a women-centric campaign, promising almost 40 per cent of party tickets for women.
As the 2022 UP assembly elections are around the corner, all political parties are organising rallies despite the fact that the world is facing lethal variants of the coronavirus like Delta, Beta and latest Omicron. The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are slated for February-March, 2022.
