UPCC president, Nirmal Khatri, has not issued a single statement

Even after being drubbed to a humiliating defeat, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president, Nirmal Khatri, has not issued a single statement or had owned morale responsibility of the dismal performance. After keeping himself away from the activities of UPCC, since the start of elections, on Saturday also, UPCC chief took flight for New Delhi from Amausi Airport but he found no time to pay even a short visit to State head-quarter.
``There are various reasons for defeat of Congress which will be discussed when the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) would take place in New Delhi, but the most evident reason here in lucknow is over looking of the Party organisation completely by the senior leaders, otherwise the UPCC would not have left like a `orphan’ and that too during the most crucial time of general elections”, claimed a senior Congress leader, who is also former member of Pradesh Congress Committee.
``There will be no regional or national parties whose state president (read Nirmal Khatri) or even the incharge of Party affairs (read Madhusudan Mistri) remained away from the main Organisational office all through the elections”, added the leader while citing that the Party orgnisation played decisive role in victory or defeat of candidates, but in Congress, the two leaders deployed for the purpose kept themselves engaged in their own Parliament seats resulting into worst ever defeat.
Hitting out at state president, another senior Congress leader who is also general secretary in the UPCC,  claimed that last time when they performed poor during Assembly elections, than state president, Rita Bahuguna Joshi or even the than Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader, Pramod Tewari, took no  time to own the responsibility and submit their resignations to the high command. However, this time, neither Khatri found time to pay a visit to Congress’s office nor he so far owned the responsibility or had  tendered resignation. ``Our president, Nirmal Khatri remained at fourth place in Faizabad, while Party incharge Mistri was drubbed by a record margin in Vadodara in Gujrat, but still  two leaders did not own the responsibility of the defeat or had submitted their resignations to the Party high-command”, confirmed the leader.
Interestingly, one another senior leader who was very upset with the dismal performance claimed that such poor leadership like the one given by Khatri and Mistri, would not help any organisation to grow further so if the two leaders still refused to take up the responsibility and submit resignation than Congress high command should expel them from Party and paved way for some one other to take responsibility of given new lease of life to Congress. Sources maintained that Khatri might meet Rahul Gandhi on Sunday and would submit resignation owning the responsibility of defeat.
