A Media wing staff of the Congress was made a scapegoat to cover up for the players who orchestrated the joining of controversial Shiv Sena leader Gaurav Upadhya. The incumbent was subsequently shifted to another wing of UP Congress Committee (UPCC) in lucknow on Thursday.
The UPCC had to face embarrassment on April 16 as the Shiv Sena leader was first given membership and in a couple of hours forced to expel him.
Thursday's development came after a two-member enquiry committee submitted their findings to the UPP chief holding three leaders primarily responsible for the gaffe of ShivSena leader Gaurav Upadhya. To give a reprieve to the influential suspects, media wing clerk Dwarika Shukla was shifted.
Interestingly, UPCC Media in-charge Satyadeo Tripathi denied having knowledge about the move and said, Rs Rs I am not in the know as to why the clerk was shifted from the media wing. I learnt about it after receiving an order from UPCC general secretary RP Tripathi on Thursday,” asserted Tripathi.
Congress spokesman Virendra Madan said that Shukla's shifting had nothing to do with the enquiry report submitted with state chief regarding Upadhya’s joining. "The report is pending for action to bee initiated by Babbar at an appropriate time, said Madan.
During enquiry, former MP Raja Ram Pal and Rajesh Mishra recorded the statement of 17 leaders who had some role or the other in the joining of Upadhya. A senior leader said that the team concluded that three leaders had Rs managed’ the show and facilitated the entry of controversial Upadhya into the party.
As per sources, the report contained the names of City Congress chief Bodh lal Shukla, candidate for Mohanlalganj Reserved 2014 Parliament poll Narendra Gautam and state Secretary Vijay Pratap Singh.
Recently, UPCC chief Raj Babbar had removed all panelists without even any consultation with Satyadeo Tripathi. So far no one has been appointed as Congress panelists to represent the party on electronic media on a day to day basis.
