Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Rai, on Sunday, launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government over the issue of farmers and privatisation and also expressed his displeasure over dividing the people on religion and castes basis.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Ajay Rai said that the government was taking away the rights of farmers by giving them false assurances.
“The amount of fertiliser has been reduced to 45 kg and now 40 kg per sack from 50 kg. Also, farmers are being arrested and suppressed if they try to raise their voices against the government’s unjustified actions,” he said.
Ajay Rai said that Congress was with the farmers in their struggle. He accused the government of ignoring the demands of the farmers and adopting a repressive policy.
Blood donation camps: Ajay Rai said that blood donation camps would be organised across the state on the occasion of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on Monday (December 9). He described it as an initiative to strengthen mutual brotherhood among all religions.
Rai said, the blood given by the people would go into the bodies of all religions.
The Congress leader accused the government of conspiring to end mutual harmony. Rai said that the Congress delegation was being prevented from going to places like Gorakhpur and Sambhal. He alleged that even permission to go to the home district was not given in the hour of grief.
On the move to privatise power distribution companies in UP, Rai said that Congress would strongly oppose it. He said that privatisation of discoms would increase economic burden on the public and it was harmful for the common man.
On the statement of Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav over the INDIA bloc unity, Rai said the whole country was standing with Rahul Gandhi. He also targeted Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and said that she was speaking the language of Bharatiya Janata Party.
