UP women burnt alive after being gangraped

A 30-year-old woman was burnt alive at Yagyashala of a temple allegedly after being raped by five persons in Sambhal on Friday night.

Ironically, the police did not respond to distress call that victim made to seek police help.

The incident took place at a village under Rajpura police station area on Friday night when the victim was at her house with her daughter. Her husband works as a labourer and he lives in Gaziabad. On finding her all alone, the miscreants barged into her residence and allegedly raped her one after one.

The five later left the house while leaving the woman bleeding profusely. A little later turned back, the miscreants retuned and dragged her to a nearby temple where they burnt her alive.

Victim’s husband said his wife tried to contact him on his cell phone but it was unreachable due to network problem.

“She then talked to her cousin seeking help. On being suggested to call to police control room she tried to police control room again but no one responded this time also,” he claimed.

He said five persons named as Aram Singh, Mahaveer, Charan Singh, Gullu and Bhona, all of same village had an evil design for a long time and they executed the crime on Friday night.

On his complaint, the police registered a case of gang rape under section 376 (d) of IPC, 302/201 and other counts.

The body of the victim has been sent for autopsy and the police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused, who are absconding.

Contrary to victim’s husband’s claim, the SHO Rajpura said the accused persons are kin of the woman.

“The woman lived with her daughters outside of the village and separately from her husband’s brothers due to the differences. She used to take help of the villagers for the daily household works and due to this her husband’s elder brother Mahaveer was against her. The woman and Mahaveer had a verbal spat and Mahaveer had threatened her of dire consequences on Thursday night,” the SHO told.

He said Mahaveer had strong differences with the woman on this issue and he objected visit of other villagers to her house in the absence of her husband.

The SHO said the miscreants took the woman to a hut in which a yagyshala was built by a sadhu several months back.

“The sadhu had left the hut and it was lying abandoned. The miscreants took the victim to the hut where they pushed her inside the Yagyashala and later brunt her alive,’ he said. The SHO added that other four accused are nephews of the victim.
