Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that Uttar Pradesh would be the top gainer after the entire nation went under one country one tax system under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) launched on Friday midnight.

``State has a population of 22 crore and a budget of just Rs 4 lakh crore but the state needs much more money”, asserted Yogi. ``The people threw garbage on roads and wanted the government employees to clean it. They wanted clean and good roads, smooth water and electric supply etc”, pointed Yogi while saying that all this needs more money and now after introduction of GST, the state will get more money as instead of 1 crore people paying tax in the state at present, after GST this figure will rise to 5 crore. Yogi was speaking at a workshop on GST at Ram Manohar lohia University organised by the Chartered Accountants here on Saturday.

``State needs a budget of Rs 10 lakh crore”, Yogi claimed while adding that the increase in revenue after GST will help his government to meet many problems faced by the people at present. Chief minister also said that the implementation of GST will also end the inspector raj and corruption. ``Even a small government official used pressure tactics on a businessmen doing a turnover of over Rs 100 crore”, he pointed saying that now with all the filing becoming `on-line’ no one could terrorise or extort money from the traders in the name of making any irregularity in taxes.

Yogi further cited the example of demonetisation claiming that not only black money, the prices of pulses and other commodities were also controlled by the government through ban of high currency notes. He said that people will be also benefited by GST as prices of many important commodities will go down under one nation, one tax system.
