UP Vidhan Sabha’s monsoon session likely to be short

Published on:

The brief monsoon session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, commencing from July 18, will have just seven sittings in which it will pass the first supplementary budgetary grants for the fiscal 2019-20.

Sources in the Vidhan Sabha secretariat said here on Thursday that though the final approval of the sittings would be made by the Business Advisory Committee, as per the proposal, the House would have seven sittings.

The Business Advisory Committee will hold meeting a day or two before the monsoon session begins.

On the opening day, the House will be adjourned for the day after paying condolence to Bharatiya Janata Party member Jagan Prasad Garg who passed away in April.

The supplementary budget is expected to be tabled on July 22 by Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal and will be passed by the House the next day.

As per the programme, the Assembly session will end on July 26.

In the brief session, the government is slated to bring a couple of bills for which ordinances have been issued.
