Uttar Pradesh has achieved a significant milestone in providing clean drinking water to its rural population as the state has topped the list of states in India in providing maximum tap water connections to rural families.
“The achievement is yet another feather in the cap of the Yogi Adityanath government, which has been working tirelessly towards providing clean drinking water to every household in the state,” Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Deo Singh said.
According to recent statistics, Uttar Pradesh has provided tap water connections to over 16 million rural families, which is the highest among all other states in India. This is a remarkable achievement, considering that till 2019, only 516,221 rural families had tap water connections in their homes in the state.
The Jal Jivan Mission, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been instrumental in achieving this feat. The scheme has not only helped connect water supply but also changed the entire life in rural areas. The officials and staff have worked hard on ground zero to achieve the target.
“Constant monitoring and guidance by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has played a crucial role in achieving the number one position in tap water connection. The achievement is significant for the Namami Gange and rural water supply department in the state,” the minister said..
On Friday, Uttar Pradesh directly benefitted 96,342,390 rural people with clean drinking water. This is a significant achievement for any government, as it has solved the biggest issue troubling rural families.
With the effort of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, people of Bundelkhand are the first to get clean drinking water. Once a backward area, Bundelkhand is saved from waterborne diseases with the availability of clean drinking water. The practice of getting drinking water from miles away in Bundelkhand no longer exists, and rural people are getting clean water to drink at their homes.
The achievement is a testament to the Yogi Adityanath government's commitment towards providing basic amenities to the rural population. The change in lifestyle is visible, and the state is on its way to becoming a model for other states in India.
