Questioning the delivery system of Uttar Pradesh Government Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the state should distribute compensation to the farmers who lost their crop in recent rains immediately as well as asked Chief Minister to improve law and order situation. “Recent rains have left farmers dejected. Some of them have committed suicide. It is the time state government should step in and provide assistance to the farmers at a war footing,” Singh told reporters here on Friday. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already taken an initiative in this regard and has asked ministers to visit affected areas.
“The Union Government is sensitive towards the plight of the farmers. The state government should also show same sensitivity and extend help to the farmers,” he said. “The Union Government has increased compensation to the farers by one and a half time. Those farmers who have lost 33 per cent of their crop are also entitled for the compensation whereas earlier this limit was 50 per cent,” he said and added that Centre would release compensation as soon as central government gets report from the state.
Home Minister also voiced concern over spate of incidents of train loot and said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should improve law and order situation. “I came to know about these loots today and will take up the matter with the state government,” he said. Robbers looted four trains on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday between Mawaiya and Alamnagar railway stations. The trains which faced the wrath were Nauchandi Express, Saptkranti Express, Akal Takth Express and Padmavat Express. Earlier in the day a delegation of PCS aspirants met the Union home minister at his residence and apprised him of irregularities committed by UP Public Service Commission in conduct of the examination.
“Singh has assured us that he will talk to UP CM and will ask him to order a probe into the matter,” said Sreyansh Tripathi, who was part of the delegation that met Union Home Minister. In the memorandum given to the Union Home Minister, the aspirants asked the Centre to intervene to “save future of the youth.” The aspirants demanded a CBI probe into all the appointments made after 2012, cancellation of both papers of PCS pre-2015 and a clarification by the state government on charges against UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Chairman Anil Kumar Yadav.
Another delegation of loktantra Senani, led by Bharat Dixit met Union Home Minister demanding that those political activists who were detained under MISA during emergency should be treated as freedom fighters. In a memorandum they pleaded that state government treats all those political prisoners who went to jail during emergency as loktantra senani. “The central government should extend the benefit of freedom fighters to these people,” they said. Dixit said Union Minister has assured all help to them.
