UP power consumer forum has said it will son file a review petition against the tariff order for 2016-17 issued by the UP electricity regulatory commission here oMonday. It said that the power regulator has done no favour to the domestic power consumers and farmers by not increasing the tariff for the two categories of consumers. Instead of maintaining status quo the regulator should have reduced the tariff for the domestic consumers and farmers owning private tube wells.

Avadesh Verma, chairman of the forum said  the regulator  under the pressure of the UP Power Corporation limited has retained the system loading charge which is levied by the power corporation on all kinds of new power connections foe all categories of consumers. He said the there was no justification for the 7 percent hike in power tariff for the commercial consumers. He also flayed the power regulator for retaining the regulatory surcharge, which is a kind of illegal extortion from the power consumers.

He said the regulatory commission had promised to abolish the recovery of the minimum charges from the commercial category of consumers. The commission has only reduced the charge instead of abolishing it.  He demanded from the regulatory commission to increase the rebate to one percent on payment of the bill on or before the due date.
