UP Police stricken by phobia

After fear from marauding criminals who havebeen attacking them with impunity, the Uttar Pradesh Police is now stricken by the phobia of being afflicted by Dengue. To allay the fears of the force, DGP Javeed Ahmed had to issue an advisory in this context on Wednesday.

The DGP office had no official figure of cops afflicted bythe killer vector borne disease . But in lucknow alone, a sub-inspector and a head contable have so far succumbed to the deadly viral strain. Ironically, both reportedly died for not getting leave to ensure proper treatment.

Now, assessing the gravity, SSP lucknow Manzil Saini has issued directions that any cop had an inkling that he or she was suffering from Dengue, could proceed for leave and sanctioned formalities would be completed later.

Sources said that after finding reports of Dengue patients rising in the Police department, Assistant to DGP, Sanjay Singhal on behalf of the DGP issued an advisory on Wednesday. All SSPs/ SPs, Additional SPs, Circle Officers, Station Officers, Commandants of PAC, Railways and all heads of other wings of the UP Police to comply with the directives relating to prevention of Dengue.

All officers were directed to ensure preventive steps in Reserve Police lines, PAC battalions, police stations, outposts, residential premises etc to prevent the disease.

All officers and personnel have been asked to sport full sleeves uniform and cover their entire body, wear socks and shoes, use mosquito nets and ensure fogging in their premises and adjoining areas.

Earlier in lucknow, sub-inspector Krishna Gopal Shukla and head constable Anil Pandey both residents of the Aliganj police colony, died after being afflicted by Dengue and not gettingproper and timely treatment.

later, SSP Manzil Saini removed SO, Aliganj KP Yadav and sent him to Police lines for not getting the colony cleaned despite complaints from residents on mosquito breeding. The SSP also visited the Aliganj police colony which houses 100 families.
